Production Assistant

  • Designed and implemented a "production plan" for graphics/communications job that came into the Communication Department. This plan enabled efficient tracking of jobs as they flowed through the various phases of production, and ensured on-time delivery to client.
  • Handled 30+ production jobs at any one time during different phases of the production process.
  • Liaison between communication staff, clients, and vendors.
  • Desktop published low-end graphic jobs such as flyers, signs, documents, etc.
  • Helped establish intern position for the graphics team; drafting job description, supervision, and training.
  • Managed calendar scheduling for all production deadlines; ensuring on-time arrivals and deliveries.
  • Helped implement and oversee electronic photo and electronic job file archiving systems.

  • During my year at the Kellogg Company, trained in many areas including aviation department, transportation, marketing, and logistics. Covered many vacations and leave-of-absences on a regular basis.
 

1986-1987 Harvest Insurance Agency Battle Creek, MI

Commission Accounting Clerk and Relocation Trainer

  • Balanced general ledger accounts
  • Introduced time saving ideas that eliminated excess work in new business submissions
  • Processed and mailed 575 agents earnings statements monthly, accounting for approximately $800,000 in commission payroll.
  • During company relocation process, trained new employees and supervised agents accounting department for four months after company move.

Since actively leaving the workforce, I have been involved in numerous volunteer activities that have helped me to keep my career skills cultivated. I managed a local church business office, started a web community for stay at home moms that includes a supporting web page and coordination of numerous online activities and communications. I have designed and managed other websites as well. In the past, I  have designed brochures and flyers for local church events and ministries, and worked part time for a consultant in her home and for Bitshop Inc. on intranet pages. Currently, I design ad layouts for pharmacy bags, work on websites and other misc. design projects, and many interior decorating projects.
